Darkroom Foundations Workshop

Overview

Working alongside our experienced lab technicians students will learn all aspects of film development; how to load film into the developing tank; the range of film developers; resources for developing at home and of course the development process hands on.

After your film is processed and dried we will explore contact printing; how to use an enlarger; basic printing steps; how contrast filters work; paper processing; taking you to the stage of making your first prints. Everything you need to confidently work in a black and white darkroom on your own!

It is a busy day but there is time for discussion of any of the elements of black and white film photography that you may have heard about but not fully understood so bring your questions and curiosity. You should leave with confidence to make a basic print and be able to hire the darkroom for your own work in the future.
